Zoo Time with Great-Grandpa

Derrick was laid off from Principal in December, and since January, I have been working 2 days a week for the Health System to keep health benefits for our family. While I am away, Ethan and Derrick have a lot of fun playing.

Today they took Great-Grandpa Collins to the zoo. They had a great time, in spite of the heat, looking at the animals and walking around.

Great Grandpa was in an auto accident a few weeks back and has been recuperating at Derrick's parents house until he gets all his strength back. From what I hear, the trip today wiped him out, but he had a lot of fun!

Where does my pee go when I flush?

Having a toddler in the home can bring up a variety of topics. "Where does my pee go Mommy?" was the question today while we were washing our hands in the bathroom. Ethan then continued to explore the question by opening the cupboard door under the sink and looked to see where the water from the faucet went. "Where does the water go?" We talked about the pipes, how it travels to and from our house, and even took a short field trip down to the basement to listen to the water running through the sewer pipe.

Hungry for Worms!

We are back from our trip, and one of the first things we had to do when we got home was check on our feathered friends. I was so suprised at how large they were! They were moving, chirping and mouths open, ready for food. Mom and Dad Robin must have been out gathering food... these little guys must eat A LOT for how fast they are growing!

I couldn't bring myself to check on our other bird friends in the gutter. I would be so sad if they weren't okay. The mother Mourning Dove is still sitting in the nest, so I assume things are okay, but we will leave them alone for now.
