Full Day of Preschool Fun

Today, Everett practiced his counting, order of numbers, number recognition and balance/tower building all in one.  He had a lot of fun building with blocks and counting out the amount of blocks next to each number.

Later on, we worked on building foil boats for a science experiment Ethan was working on.  The kids had a lot of fun building and seeing how much their boats could hold before sinking.

This evening, while building another boat from tin foil, Everett fell asleep.  He was so sweet sleeping there, with the little sweat beads on his nose and all.  I couldn't resist taking his picture.  He's such a sweet boy!

A boat in the hand...

and one on the couch.  Poor guy was exhausted.

I love these little beads of sweat he gets on his nose!

"Wanna hear me count?"

This is a common question to hear from Ethan right now. He is counting everything lately and every time we go to the bank (God has granted those nice ladies with lots of patience) he has to get the 100 book from the kids bin, and count each rubber duck out loud until he reaches #100 for who ever is working at the bank. He is very proud of himself to say the least!

To harness this desire to count, I created a lesson where he gets some writing practice in as well. I printed the worksheet and had him fill in the blanks with this missing number. After he finished this, he cut out each square, mixed them up, and then ordered them on the table.

We started with 1-30, then he wanted to go further, so we ended up ordering all the number squares from 1-100.

While Ethan was busy working on his lesson, Everett practiced walking around the chairs.

Hammer Time!

Today I added a new activity to our shelf. We have been working on number recognition over the last few weeks and Ethan thought this was a lot of fun!

I love it when new activities are so easy to put together, and it is a bonus when they give an extra 10-15 minutes of quiet play. This one is made from a block of packing Styrofoam, Daddy's golf tees and a toy hammer.

Counting with Cheerios

After breakfast today we played with our food! We have been working on recognizing numbers and Ethan thought this was so much fun. I am working on making counting cards out of foam with larger circles for matching and more counting fun.
