Caution: This Vehicle Makes Sudden Stops for Wildlife Viewing

Earlier this evening, as we were driving home, Ethan and I spotted a large owl sitting in a tree.  I instantly pulled over the van, hopped out, opened the doors to let the kids out, and quietly, with my camera at the ready, walked slowly to get a better look.

We could see it pretty well with our eyes, but as we got closer (so I could get the camera to get a better photo), it flew off, out of sight.  It was such a beautiful big bird.  The kids were impressed by how large the wings looked when it flew away.

I really need a telephoto lens on my camera!  The owl is in the center, between the trees.
