Big Boy Elliot!

Over the last few days, Elliot has been wearing training pants and doing a great job going potty on his potty seat!  With M&M's as an incentive, and a lot of excitement when he goes from the rest of the family, he is enjoying his new skill!

Yesterday he put it all together and even had a successful #2 on the potty!  I think we have turned the corner and we are on our way to a potty trained 2 year old!!  WOO HOO!

Today he was dry all day long and even stayed dry during his nap!  At one point he was downstairs playing with the boys and up he ran, saying to himself "Gotta go potty, gotta go potty, gotta go potty!" as he scurried into the bathroom where his little potty seat was.

He is growing so fast and we are very proud!!

Way to go Elliot!  You are a big boy now!!

Drink Up!

Lemonade and popcorn for snack time today!

Today I decided to put underpants on Elliot, give him a bunch of fluids, and try to convince him that he should join the "Big Boy Club".

So far we have had 5 wet pairs of pants and a few dribbles on the floor to clean up.  Derrick thinks I'm nuts but I have a feeling that things are going to go differently this time!  Wish us luck!

Potty Training... no more!

Ethan is no longer afraid to go poo on the potty. After a short session of loose stools resulting in multiple trips to the potty, the fear is gone. Today he pooped 4-6 times so he could get a freeze pop each time. He even woke in the night and went potty on his own and returned to bed. What a big boy!!

Potty Training Progress

Well, things have been going okay in the potty training area. Ethan is wearing 'big boy' Thomas the train underwear during the day, and sleeping with pull-ups at night, and is doing a great job staying dry. We have only had a few accidents during the day when he is distracted and doesn't want to go, but other than that... we are on the right track.

Getting poo in the potty was a struggle, but since we have had a few successes, it is getting better! Today though, after waking, he still had his pull-up on and I fed him breakfast and was cleaning up the dishes while talking on the phone with my Mom. I looked over and saw Ethan grunting and asked... "Are you pooping in your pants?". He smiled at me and responded, "No, I'm just kidding". I later found out he wasn't kidding... I guess that is why they call it 'training' as it is still a work in progress! Better luck next time!

Poo on the floor!

You will not believe what happened today. I got this great idea that I would let Ethan go diaper-less in the mornings when we are home after breakfast as he ALWAYS poos right away after he eats. I figured that he would squat and I would ask him "Do you have to poo?" and he would say "yes" and we would use the potty and he would make the connection that poo goes in the potty. Well, I forget that I am half insane sometimes and my fairytale ideas don't plan out!

So, the potty was in the room with us open and ready to use and Ethan was playing. I was dusting and cleaning and keeping a close eye on him but not letting him know what it was that I was doing, and before I knew it he started to poo standing up. No warning... just poo on the floor!

I didn't react but pointed out what it was he did, then he freaked out. He had no idea what that pile of poo was and he was frightened. I put it into the potty and sat him on it for a while to see if he would finish. He didn't go so then we put the poo in the big potty and said "bye-bye" to it.

I don't think he is ready--he had NO IDEA that he was even going poo... so I guess we will be sticking with diapers for a while longer. It was worth a try!
