Traveling to Florida

We packed our bags, sent some with Chris and Beth and some went with Derrick's parents (they left on Friday and were all driving) and on Saturday morning, we started our adventure to Panama City, Florida. We were flying out of Kansas City so we needed to drive 3 hours there before taking the flight to Panama City. I think we left the house before 8:00AM and we made pretty good time, and had time to lunch at the KCI airport before we flew out. Ethan is still rear-facing in his carseat so he didn't have the best time traveling, he was okay about the first 1.5 hrs but after that I sat in the backseat to try and keep him entertained.

We flew Delta airlines and our flight had a connection into Atlanta before we would arrive in Panama City. The first flight wasn't bad, Ethan had no idea what was going on and just observed most of the flight going back and forth between my lap and Derrick's, munching crackers and drinking his sippy of water. We had a window seat and he watched out the window as we took off and got higher in the sky. I tried to point out the airplanes to him that were on the ground taking off around us but I think that he didn't know what I was pointing at because he was more interested in the little golf cart looking vehicles transporting luggage and other items to the planes. They moved faster and were more interesting to watch.

We landed in Atlanta and we had to exit outside in order to get to our gate. It was pretty strange and very loud, and with a stroller and 3 pieces of luggage (2 carry on and 1 diaper bag) it was not a very fun trip. We would have had to go up 3 flights of stairs with the rest of the passengers so we followed the other people in strollers and wheelchairs to the elevators, making it a little easier. We went through the breakroom and up a small service elevator to get to the gates, it was strange to say the least, but it kept Ethan's attention.

When we got to our gate we had about a 30 minute wait, it went pretty fast. Ethan was very curious and flirted with a lot of the people around us. They all thought he was a cutie and fed his need for the attention. We watched a few planes take off and walked around a bit then it was time to board again.

We again had to go outside to board the plane (we were on a pretty small plane, 2 seats on both sides) and I hit my head when trying to get into my seat because the ceiling was so low as well. Ethan enjoyed looking outside at the golf cart looking vehicles again and I believe he started noticing the airplanes as well. Our flight was pretty short and before we knew it we were landing again.

I was pretty pleased on how the trip went overall and crossed my fingers that we would have all our luggage and carseat at the baggage claim when we got off the plane. Sure enough, everything was there and it wasn't too long before we were in the van with Derrick's mom and sisters, heading to the condo. I just hope the trip home goes as smooth.
