Today was a relaxed day in Biloxi. We really didn't have too much on the agenda, and Ethan had been begging to go metal detecting, so after breakfast we grabbed our gear and headed across the street to the beach.
As we were walking across the street, two police cars were on each side of the crosswalk. I mentioned to Ethan, as he carried the metal detector and I the bag of digging tools, "We will find out pretty quickly the laws about metal detecting on this beach." as we walked right in front of both officers. They went along their way, so I guess it is legal to metal detect the beaches of Biloxi.
We didn't find much while metal detecting, even when our friends joined us in the search, but we did remove two beer cans (buried a good 6 inches deep) and some fire work debris from the beach, completing our civic duty for the day.
Later on, as we moved into the dry sand, we found a few odd pieces of metal and a 2013 penny, with the digging help of Great Grandpa Dale.
Soon after the metal detecting was getting boring, Derrick and the rest of the family joined us on the beach and brought the kites. The kids had a great time flying them and with the sun and the sand, it was a fun morning.

| The weather was beautiful, and not too windy. There was just enough wind to fly. |

Before we knew it our cheeks were starting to get pink from being outside in the sun and our bellies were growling for food; it was lunch time.
We packed things up, grabbed some food, then went to check out the stained glass in a local church and pay a visit to the Biloxi Visitors Center where we grabbed a geocache and found a few Mardi Gras beads from the parade the evening prior.

It was a fun day and the kids can't wait to fly kites again soon! I was thankful for the sunshine and warm weather today, Although, the temps here were chilly for this time of year (high of 60 today), it was still much warmer than Iowa and the negative temps and snow they are receiving. I'll take 60 at the beach any day over snow and freezing wind!!
