Superbowl Brownies

What else do you make for Superbowl Sunday than some Chocolate Football Brownies? The recipe was super easy and super yummy! Ethan helped and was very excited to taste the finished product, and Everett had an idea he was missing out on something special. A few crumbs fell on the floor as we were cutting the little footballs out, and Everett had a fun time trying to pick them up.

Superbowl Worthy Chocolate Brownies
½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
¾ cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
½ cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
¼ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp sea salt
½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Pre-heat oven to 350ยบ. Sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Set aside. In a large bowl, beat sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients to wet and stir with rubber spatula until combined. If adding nuts or other ingredients, stir in at this time. Pour batter into lightly greased 8x8 or 9x9 square pan and bake 20-25 minutes until brownies start to slightly pull away from the sides of the pan. Cool in pan for 10-15 minutes on wire rack before cutting into squares.

For the Superbowl, we cut the brownies into football shapes with a football cookie cutter and decorated with white frosting.

Makes 9 large brownies at 205 calories each or 16 small brownies at 115 calories each.
