Everett loves to paint. Watercolors, tempera, acrylic... what ever the media he really enjoys painting!
A friend of mine is co-teaching a homeschool art class with me again this year, and this afternoon was the first class of the season.
We both have younger children so we decided to include them in the classes this year by adding a special 30 minute session for younger siblings. The age range for that group is 2.5-5 years old and right now we have 17 kids registered. Everett was so excited to have his very own art class... he talked about it all week long!
Today was the first class, and although it was a lot of fun, poor Everett couldn't go because of that strange rash he has. I knew he'd be totally bummed out, so we had a practice session in the grass while Ethan was at his enrichment class. (Bonus of having Mom for an art teacher!!) He was so happy!!
The project involved putting painters tape on canvas and painting over it with acrylic paint. After drying the tape is removed to get a very cool contrast of white lines on the canvas. He is really proud of his masterpiece! This evening before bed he insisted we hang it where he could look at it while he went to sleep. This could even be a piece that he wants to display at the Iowa State Fair this summer. He is very proud of himself!

He told me where to put the tape... he wanted a letter A.

Ev's favorite color is blue, he wanted all blue on his canvas but I talked him into picking a few others as well. (Yes that is a Frisbee)

I was really impressed with the amount of time he took to add more colors and fill in all the white space.

Elliot couldn't figure out what the blue liquid was in the cup and why Ev kept dipping his paint brush in there. I played ball with Elliot while Everett painted.

Towards the end he started layering his colors. He decided he wasn't too happy with the yellow.
