After the gush of water, the resident put Elliot on my chest and the nurses started to dry him off. It is always an amazing sensation, holding the warm, wet, purple little body against yours for the first time. It is truly a miricle to think that the little body lying on yours, was moments ago living and growing inside your body. God is amazing!
He barely cried and so the nurses suggested they take him to the warmer to see if he would pink up a little more. The resident was busy getting things ready to deliver my placenta, so I was willing to let him go while Derrick watched with the video camera.
They placed him on the warmer, and he started to cry more. Ethan and Grandma had front row seats as they dried him, measured his cord, put a hat on him and checked him over to make sure everything was okay. The nurses commented on his curly cord, and said that he must have been a summersault baby... she was right... he was constantly moving and flip-flopping, even moments before he was delivered!
The next moment when I looked over, I was surprised to see my little purple munchkin transformed into a bright red, healthy baby boy!
The nurse asked if Derrick wanted to cut the cord again, and make it shorter so they could weigh him, and Derrick declined, as he was running the camera. So she turned to Vicky and Ethan and asked Ethan if he wanted to cut. He jumped at the chance and before we knew it, Ethan was cutting the cord of his baby brother with the supervision of Grandma and the nurses. Pretty cool!!

They weighed Elliot and I couldn't believe my eyes... 7 lbs 8.6 oz!! My biggest baby yet! Ethan was 6 lbs 15 oz at term, and Everett was a tiny 5 lbs 14 oz at 5 days past due. I was thankful that things went so smooth with him being so much larger than my other babies. God knew he needed to be bigger to hang with his older brothers!
Even though things didn't go according to my planning, things went according to God's plan; His plan is aways perfect!
