Our first Monarch butterfly emerged today while we were away, but waited for us to get home before she started on her journey. We have one more in chrysalis that will probably be here later next week. Summer is officially here!
As soon as she saw us she started to climb out of the container, so I quickly moved her outside. She climbed out and instantly landed on Ethan, where she took some time to stretch her wings and then flew to the nearby tree. She sat there for a few minutes, stretching her wings some more, than flew away, starting her journey.
