Today we spent some time relaxing and decided to take a short hike to Rainbow Lake, a local hike minutes from our condo, before letting the kids swim the afternoon away at the pool. It was a beautiful day, although slightly more muddy than I would have liked, but everyone had fun and the sunshine was amazing.
After exploring the lake and heading back down the trail, Elliot pooped his diaper, and announced it with his constant "Owie, owie, owie!" as he walked. We've been working with him on potty training and he just isn't into it yet, but once he poops in his diaper he immediately needs to be changed. So you can imagine the whining and irritation he had when he pooped and then needed to hike down the trail back to the van.
I found a few logs that looked like a nice spot to change him, and suggested he let me change his diaper, but he whined and protested, only wanting me to change him in the van. It took a good 5 minutes of convincing him to finally let me change his diaper, and we ended up doing it while he was still standing (yes, after 3 kids you do pick up some amazing diaper changing skills), but after he was in a fresh diaper, the hike down was much more peaceful!
I am more than ready for this boy to decide to use the potty!
